Thanks for joining me!
Women Veterans of America, Chapter 48 in Denton, Texas is issuing a #visiblewomenveterans Challenge to all recognized, non-profit, Women Veteran Organizations. The purpose of the challenge is three-fold:
- To raise funds to help homeless women veterans transition and continue their journey successfully.
- To help prevent women veteran suicide, by providing the information and resources to let women veterans know they are not alone and help is available.
- To encourage women veterans to “Stand Up” and join Women Veteran Organizations, in visible efforts, to build better communities and to “be there” as they transition from military life and throughout their continued journeys.
We challenge you and your organization to come up with a fun, crazy, fundraiser that will accomplish these goals. All funds raised must go towards helping homeless women veterans. Post a video of your fundraiser and the amount raised. Reveal where and how the funds will assist in alleviating homelessness. Share the challenge with your network of organizations and see how many you can get involved in this effort. Post on social media, YouTube, and web sites. Make it fun!!! Help us create a viral #challenge that will end homelessness for women veterans.

I have sent out the #Challenge on every Social Media available and challenged five different Women Veteran Organizations. However, as of this date none have accepted the challenge.
One has to wonder if our own avoidance of the issues is a part of the problem. The invisibility of women veterans worries me. How can we deal with rising suicide and homelessness rates unless we “stand up” to do something about it??
Your thoughts are welcome!
